Arthur Laundy is one of Australia’s most respected publicans and a defining figure in the evolution of the Australian pub industry. A second-generation hotelier, Arthur stepped into the family business at just 28 after the sudden passing of his father, carrying forward a legacy that began in 1945 when Arthur Laundy Senior and Veronica Laundy ran the Sackville Hotel in Rozelle. Over more than six decades, Arthur has grown the business from a small family operation into one of Australia’s largest privately owned hospitality groups, with a portfolio spanning pubs, hotels, accommodation and more recently has entered into the media world with the purchase of what is now called Tapt Media consisting of Sydney’s famous 2GB. Known for his instinctive understanding of people, place and the importance of pubs as the heart of Australian communities, Arthur continues to be a passionate advocate for the industry, family business, long-term ownership and the next generation of hotel operators.
